Pochampally IKAT mela 2012

Much to the delight of the fashion connoisseurs, ‘Pochampally IKAT Mela 2012’ a 7-day  Handloom Products exhibition was kicked off at Y.W.C.A., St Andrews School Campus, West Marredpally, Secunderabad. The Mela organised by pochampally Handloom park , will be on till 7th November 2012

From handicrafts, silk and cotton apparel to the exclusive designer wear crafted by fashion designers & Skillfully created by world famous Weavers of Pochampally. Exhibiting Exclusive, Hand made Bed & Home Linen, Dress Materials, Silk & Cotton Saris in exquisite designs & Contemporary colours by Textile designers.

On display is a colour ful range of fabrics like home textile to apparel fabrics, stoles , scraves, and sarees in silk & Cotton, duppatas, table mats, covers, cotton shirts & Kurtis, Hand bags, and engineered blends.

Smt Shailaja Ramaiyer IAS, Vice Chairmen & Managing Director, A.P. Handicrafts Development Corporation (Govt of AP), inaugurated the Mela by lighting the lamp. “Platforms such as this are required to reach out women looking for well-designed hand made cotton, silk wear & exclusive home textile” she added. “Which can see the blend of different style and concept of handloom creations coming together under one roof, this enables different weavers coming together and exhibiting their creations of different genres of handloom products in vibrant colours and textures in wide variety and styles”

Chari, CEO of Pochampally Handloom park’ Said ‘The beauty of ikat lies in the unpredictability of texture of the fabric, using the latest techniques. ‘products ranging from home textile to apparel fabrics, stoles, scraves, and sarees in silk , cotton and engineered blends’ he added.

“In this mela we are showcasing many types of variety sarees those can mesmerize and also traditional” Chari said. ’ikat is a textile technique in which patterns are achived by tying and dying the yarn prior to weaving, this unique process gives ikat fabrics their distinct feathered identity’ he explained .

Silk Mark Expo 2012

Silk mark  organization of  india Hyderabad Chapter (Silk mark – An initiative of Central silk board, Ministry of Textiles , Govt of india ) Organizing Silk Mark Expo 2012,Textile Exhibition from 11th  October onwards at Satya Sai Nigamagamam , Sri Nagar Colony ,  Hyderabad. The Expo will be on till  16th October , open from 10.30 am to 8.30pm.  The Exposition showcasing exquisite Pure Silk sarees and dress materials  by  Weavers from the Different parts of the country.  Not only from Andhra Pradesh, but also from Karnataka , West Bengal , Orissa,Tamilnadu, MadhyaPradesh, Chattisgarh territories are presenting  their designes and Fabrics .  Above 50  stalls giving number of variety products in this expo.

Hyderabad, September, 2012: Shrujan-Threads of Life, a non- profit organisation from Kutch, Gujarat is organizing an exhibition-cum-sale of intricate and finest quality Kutchi Hand Embroidered products at  Veeves boutique, Road no 14, Banjara Hills.  The exhibition will be on till 13th September 2012 ,  open from   10.30   am to  8.30pm.

1st Runners up – Mrs. India International 2012, Reet Sahu inaugurated the exhibition by lighting the lamp.  “It’s glad to see various   apparels, particularly embroidery saris and life style products being  showcased for the Fashion Connoisseurs” said Reet.

The Exhibition showcases 16 different types of  embroideries, which have been social and cultural symbols of kutchhi communities and are passed from mothers to their daughters.

Designers like   Smt  Chandaben Shroff, Harita kapoor, Swati Dalal,  Shimoli Shah and Keyur put in their souls and  minds together to  bring about the best  depiction of these  embroideries for urban customers.
